Meet the Founders
Jeff Howard is a Co-Founder of Veteran’s Choice Home loans a DBA of Mann Mortgage LLC. Jeff created Veteran’s Choice Home Loans out of the absolute need in the real estate industry for personal VA Home Loan Education for our Active Military and Veteran communities. He believes that every VA Eligible Borrower deserves “one on one” personal attention through individual VA Home Loan Seminars, and that education on wealth building through Real Estate is the key to Active Military and Veteran long-term financial growth and security.
Jeff joined Mann Mortgage in October of 2011 and helped to create Veteran’s Choice Home Loans in 2016. With over 12 years in the mortgage industry, this highly dedicated lending professional is focused primarily on residential mortgage loans including VA loans. He has held previous positions at First Hawaiian Bank and Countrywide/Bank of America. Jeff’s loan volume was an instrumental part of growing the Hawaii branch to a Top 20 producing branch in the nationwide Bank of America system (over 300 branches) with $300 million in annual sales. While there, he was named to the 2008-2011 Chairman’s Club for Bank of America’s top 1 percent in the nation, and was Bank of America’s top VA and USDA Purchase loan leader in 2008-2011.
Having personally originated and closed over 600 million in home loans, Jeff has an unparalleled depth of knowledge in his field. From 2013 to 2015 Jeff was honored as the #1 Overall Producer nationwide in Mann Mortgage in total loan volume. In 2015 Scotsman Guide also ranked Jeff as the #24 ranked loan officer total loan volume and the highest ranking loan officer in Hawaii in the VA Home Loan Volume category. Jeff Howard attended the University of Hawaii, where he earned a B.A in Political Science.
Scott W. Farley has more than 25 years of leadership experience building and running mortgage banking branches. An accomplished corporate strategist and marketer, his vision and expertise in business performance have driven notable enterprise growth in the retail, wholesale, builder and direct to the consumer sectors. He has written numerous real estate and relevant mortgage marketplace articles that have been featured in the Honolulu Advertiser, Honolulu Star Bulletin, as well as other business media.
Farley is responsible for driving many of the company’s strategic initiatives in addition to the operational oversight. Offering a rare blend of creative and operational strengths, Farley has achieved exciting company and branch turnarounds and is recognized for his success in growing sales and profits. His strategic approach to building a business is reflected most recently in his work as Regional Manager of American Bancorp, a division of Colorado Federal Savings Bank, and previously as Retail Manager for Charter Funding of Hawaii.
His turnaround capability is highlighted by his accomplishments as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Hammond Company, the Mortgage Bankers where he led a distressed branch to record profitability through brand revitalization that included major shifts in brand strategy, operations, product delivery, marketing communications, and as lead lender for Schuler Homes of Hawaii. Farley’s exceptional track record of business improvement is based on his philosophy of total enterprise engagement in change. He is known for his ability to quickly identify and diagnose sales and growth impediments that go far beyond marketing, working with companies to refine their organizational structure, product lines, sourcing, sales channels, market position, as well as general advertising.
Shawn Kelly joined Mann Mortgage in October of 2011 and currently serves as Branch Sales Manager, overseeing the Oahu and Big Island sales efforts for the company’s four branches. Kelly led the growth of the Honolulu Branch from 5 employees to 45, increasing their gross sales from $65 million in 2011 to $210 million in 2012. The Honolulu branch was named #1 branch company-wide for 2012 by Mann Mortgage LLC, which operates 38 branches in a 13 state area. Growth continues with production on track to exceed $300 million in 2013. Purchase growth at the Honolulu branch achieved record highs, making up 48% of volume despite a large refinance volume due to exceptional lending rates. Kelly is responsible for driving many of the company’s strategic initiatives in addition to the sales oversight.
He has been active in the local mortgage banking field since 1993. In 1997 he co-founded Pacific Financial and Mortgage / Applied Wholesale Mortgage where he managed originations, Operations and the sale of closed loans for the company’s business operations in Honolulu and Southern California. At the same time, he co-founded a Real Estate company: Premier Realty 2000, bringing a depth of industry knowledge in both operations and management to his role.
In 2004, Kelly joined Countrywide Home Loans as Honolulu Operations Manager, one of the largest branches in the country, and shortly thereafter became Branch Manager. He managed a sales force in excess of 30 Loan Officers. He oversaw the opening of the first Joint Ventures with key developers and Realtors and expanded the branch into neighbor islands.
Kelly joined Bank of America Home Loans after the Countrywide acquisition. Under his leadership, the branch grew to a Top 20 producing branch in the nationwide Bank of America system (over 300 branches) with $300 million in annual sales and held the companywide honor of being the largest lending branch in a non-Bank of America state (no bank branches).
Kelly is known for a can-do attitude, unrelenting drive, and strongly supports his sales team ensuring the latest, best tools and programs are available to their customers. Kelly holds certifications as a Certified Builder Rep and Multi-Cultural Markets Specialist. He had served on the Board of Directors for Hawaii Association of Mortgage Brokers (HAMB) for 3 years (is currently a member) and is serving his third year on the Board of Directors for the Mortgage Bankers Association of Hawaii (MBAH) and is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association. In addition, he is currently serving a 3-year board term as Director for Waikiki Yacht Club. Kelly studied Finance at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, VA and is a former Marine.
